In questa esposizione troverete una serie di “macchine”, computer e videogiochi domestici, che mettono in risalto l’evoluzione del design nel corso dei decenni dalla metà degli anni ’70 fino alle soglie del nuovo millennio.
Sezione 1 “L’inizio: design futuristico” Commodore PET – CBM 4008 (1980), Atari 2600 Light Sixers (1977), Mattel Intellivision (1979), Apple IIe (1983), Sinclair ZX Spectrum (1982), Sinclair Spectrum QL (1984), Commodore Amiga 500 new art (1988).
Sezione 2 “I computer entrano in ufficio” Apple LISA (1983), Apple Macintosh Plus (1986).
Sezione 3 “Rottura, i computer diventano strumenti” Olivetti M240 (1987).
Sezione 4 “Colori e Design riprendono la scena” Apple iMac G3 350 (1999).
Le “macchine” sono distribuite in otto postazioni, alcune delle quali saranno interattive. In ogni postazione, inoltre, si trova anche l’immagine del modello esposto “interpretata” dall’intelligenza artificiale (AI). Questo permette di sottolineare la “connessione” tra passato e futuro attraverso uno strumento innovativo che sempre più diffusamente permea diversi ambiti della nostra vita. Nella sala del cinema viene proiettato un filmato legato alla città di Varese e si può ammirare la scultura IDOLO (2000) realizzata dall’artista Laura Branca, che rappresenta un messaggio di libertà e di guida verso il futuro.

In this exhibition, you’ll find a series of “machines,” home computers and video games, highlighting the evolution of design over the decades from the mid-1970s to the dawn of the new millennium.
Section 1 “The Beginning: Futuristic Design” Commodore PET – CBM 4008 (1980), Atari 2600 Light Sixers (1977), Mattel Intellivision (1979), Apple IIe (1983), Sinclair ZX Spectrum (1982), Sinclair Spectrum QL (1984), Commodore Amiga 500 New Art (1988).
Section 2 “Computers Enter the Office” Apple LISA (1983), Apple Macintosh Plus (1986).
Section 3 “Disruption: Computers Become Tools” Olivetti M240 (1987).
Section 4 “Colors and Design Take Center Stage” Apple iMac G3 350 (1999).
The “machines” are distributed across eight stations, some of which will be interactive.
Each station also features an image of the model on display, interpreted by artificial intelligence (AI). This highlights the connection between past and future through an innovative tool that increasingly permeates various areas of our lives.
In the cinema hall, a film related to the city of Varese is shown, and visitors can admire the sculpture IDOLO (2000) by artist Laura Branca, which represents a message of freedom and guidance towards the future.
